Plants vs. Zombies Reveals New Graphic Novel [EXCLUSIVE]

Dark Horse Comics and PopCap Games have announced Plants vs. Zombies Volume 25: It’s a Dogz Life. This will be the next volume in the popular line of graphic novels from the successful Plants vs. Zombies franchise, and it looks to provide another entertaining adventure for fans.

Following the release of the original Plants vs. Zombies in 2009, the franchise has gone on to spawn various games. The first titles became beloved for their tower defense gameplay that involved a collection of plants squaring off against an army of zombies. Over time, the franchise branched out with spin-off games, such as Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare, which introduced a third-person shooter experience. In addition, the franchise has an ongoing graphic novel series, and fans now know what the next chapter will be about.

Plants vs. Zombies Volume 25: It’s a Dogz Life is a New Graphic Novel, and It's Coming Next Year

As announced by Dark Horse Comics and PopCap Games, Plants vs. Zombies Volume 25: It’s a Dogz Life is a new graphic novel in the comic book series. According to the publisher, this upcoming volume is written by Paul Tobin, who has worked on the previous 24 volumes set in the Plants vs. Zombies universe, and is illustrated by Christianne Gillenardo-Goudreau. In addition, the graphic novel features colors by Heather Breckel and letters by Steve Dutro, while the cover art is also by Gillenardo-Goudreau. Plants vs. Zombies Volume 25: It’s a Dogz Life is scheduled to come to bookstores on March 3, 2026, and it will arrive at comic shops a day later on March 4, 2026. While fans will have to wait until next year to get their $12.99 copy of the 88-page (6x9”) hardcover volume, pre-orders are now available on Amazon and Barnes and Noble, along with at local bookstores and comic shops.

Besides revealing the next installment in the Plants vs. Zombies graphic novel series, Dark Horse Comics provided some details about what to expect from the story. As the name of the book teases, the plot involves Dr. Zomboss and his lost dog, with Patrice, Nate, Crazy Dave, and the plants having to help locate it. While not many other details were revealed, it sounds like Plants vs. Zombies Volume 25: It’s a Dogz will feature a healthy dose of chaos, especially since Dr. Zomboss, the Plants vs. Zombies iconic villain, is involved. Mr. Stubbins also appears to play an important role based on the cover art.

While fans wait for Plants vs. Zombies Volume 25: It’s a Dogz Life, they will have other ways to enjoy the popular franchise in the meantime. Recently, PopCap Games revealed Plants vs. Zombies: Replanted, a remaster of the original game. Releasing on October 23, 2025, the game will include the classic tower defense gameplay fans love and feature improved graphics, local co-op, and more.
